Extension not translating a site? What to check
The RuneManga extension does nothing on a reader site? The usual reasons, from a site that is not switched on to protected pages, and how to fix each.
When the RuneManga extension does nothing on a site, the cause is almost always one of a few things: the site is not switched on yet, the pages are drawn in a way the extension cannot read, or the images are smaller than its limit. Go through the checks below in order.
1. Switch the site on
On a site you have not used before, RuneManga waits for you. Point at a page and click the R logo to translate that page, or switch on Auto in the logo's bar to translate the whole chapter as you scroll. The site card at the top of the popup shows whether the site is on.
2. Protected pages: use Translate an area
Some readers draw their pages on a canvas or hide the image file, so there is no picture for the extension to send. Choose Translate an area in the popup, or press Alt+Shift+S, and draw a box over the page. RuneManga translates what is inside the box.
3. Images that are too small
Auto mode only takes images at least as wide and tall as Smallest image to translate in the popup's Settings, 100 pixels by default. On a reader with small pages, lower it. A click on the R logo still works on smaller images.
4. Sites RuneManga leaves alone
On social and video sites, such as YouTube, X, Instagram, Reddit and Discord, RuneManga does not add its logo, because most of their images are not comic pages. Translate an area still works there for a single picture.
5. A page fails
- The page shows an error: click its logo to try again. A page that fails costs no credit.
- Not a page image: auto mode skipped a picture that does not look like a page, such as an animation or an icon. Click it to translate it anyway.
- Out of credits: claim your free daily credits on runemanga.com, or see the guide on running out of credits.
- Nothing at all happens: reload the page. After an update of the extension, tabs that were already open need one reload.

Questions
Why does the logo not appear on a page?
Either the site is a social or video site RuneManga leaves alone, or the images are smaller than the Smallest image setting. Try Translate an area.
Does RuneManga work on every reader?
On most sites that show pages as ordinary images. Readers that draw protected pages on a canvas need Translate an area.
Do failed pages cost credits?
No. Pages that fail, or are already in your language, cost nothing.
