Translate your first chapter
A walkthrough from the first upload to the downloaded chapter, with what each setting does and what to check on every result.
To translate your first chapter, add its pages in the WebApp, choose Translate, pick the languages, press the big button and download the result. The whole job is one upload, and the progress is shown page by page. This guide goes through the screen in order and shows what to check at each step.
Step by step
- Open the WebApp and add your pages in the first box: choose files, drop them in, or paste an image with Ctrl+V. A folder or a ZIP works too.
- Check the thumbnails. They show the pages in reading order, numbered. Remove a wrong one with the cross, or press Clear all to start again.
- Pick a mode. Translate is the one to use. Colorize and Translate + colorize are planned, not available yet.
- Set Original language, or leave Auto-detect, and set Translate into.
- Press the big button. It names what it will do, for example Translate 12 pages.
- Watch the bar. It shows how many pages are done, for example 7 of 12.
- Use Original and Result to flip between the source and the translation, then download.
What the settings mean
- Mode: what is done to the page. Translate changes the text and leaves the art and colors alone.
- Original language: the language on the pages. Auto-detect finds the language among the ones in the menu, and picking it yourself is safer on a page with little text.
- Translate into: the language you want to read.
Page order
Pages are processed in the order shown. Files from a ZIP or a folder are sorted by name with numbers in natural order, so 2.png comes before 10.png. Files you pick together in the file dialog are sorted by name in the same way.
Limits
The upload box shows the current limits. Today that is up to 50 pages per job on Free, 100 on Supporter, 200 on Pro and 500 on Ultimate, and 20 MB per page. Very tall webtoon strips count by their full size, so split an extremely long strip if the upload is refused.
What to check on each result
- Is every speech bubble translated? Text outside bubbles and sound effects are not translated yet and stay as drawn.
- Does the text fit? Long translations are shrunk to fit the bubble.
- Did the artwork under the old lettering survive? The background is filled in where the text was, and very busy backgrounds are the hardest.
- Do names stay the same from page to page?
Downloading
Each page has its own Download button and comes as a PNG. When there is more than one page, Download all (ZIP) gives you the whole chapter in one file, with pages numbered in order. Download before leaving: uploads and results are deleted about an hour after the job finishes.
If a page fails or looks wrong
- A failed page shows its own message under the page number.
- If a page fails, the pages after it in the same job are skipped. Press Start over and add the failed page and everything after it. There is no single-page retry yet.
- If the whole job failed, wait a moment and try again. The service may be busy.
- For a bad result on a good scan, set the source language instead of Auto-detect.
