What is RuneLingua? Our AI manga translator

RuneLingua is RuneManga's own AI translator for manga and manhwa dialogue, live on every plan. What it is for, how it runs and what stays the same.

RuneLingua is RuneManga's own AI translator, built for the dialogue in manga and manhwa. It is live and translates the pages of every plan, Free included, on our servers. A few target languages it does not write well yet still go to another translation service.

RuneLingua is new and still improving, so judge it on your own series.

What RuneLingua is

A translation engine is the part of a manga translator that turns the recognized text into your language. Everything before it, such as finding the bubbles and reading the lettering, and everything after it, such as erasing and typesetting, is separate. RuneLingua is our own engine for that one step, designed around comics instead of general text.

Why a manga-specific engine

General-purpose engines are built to translate documents, websites and messages. They do that well. Comic dialogue is a different kind of text, and that is where they tend to be weaker:

  • Short lines and exclamations with no sentence around them.
  • Slang, banter and the way characters talk to one another.
  • Honorifics and forms of address that English has no direct equivalent for.
  • Who is speaking. In Japanese and Korean the subject is often left out.
  • Names and terms that should stay the same across pages.

An engine built for this kind of text can be tuned for these problems. That is the idea behind RuneLingua. Whether it beats a general engine on a given series is something you can judge yourself, now that it is live.

Where it stands today

  • Status: live since October 2026.
  • Plans: every plan, Free included. There is nothing to switch on.
  • Languages: most target languages. A few it does not write well yet, such as Swahili, Zulu and Quechua, still go to another translation service.
  • Credits: one credit per page on every plan. Every account claims 20 a day and gets 30 once at sign-up; Supporter adds 1,000 a month, Pro 2,500 and Ultimate 5,000.

If RuneLingua is unavailable

If a page cannot reach RuneLingua for a moment, it is translated by another translation service instead, so a chapter does not stop halfway. The Privacy page names that service and describes where the text goes in each case.

What RuneLingua will not change

The engine only decides the wording. Finding the text, reading it, erasing the original lettering and fitting the translation into the bubble work the same on every plan. A bubble that was missed, a sound effect that was left alone, or a line that came out small will not be fixed by switching engines.

What stays the same for your pages

  • Uploads and results are deleted about an hour after the job finishes.
  • Pages are not used to train models.
  • Only text goes to the translator, not the image. With RuneLingua that translator is ours, on the GPU machines that already process your pages, and the Privacy page describes it.

How to judge an engine for yourself

  1. Pick a chapter you know well, in the original language if you can read it.
  2. Translate it and read the first pages against the original.
  3. Look at the hard lines: jokes, exclamations, forms of address and names.
  4. Check that the same name is spelled the same way on different pages.
  5. Decide whether the wording needs fixing, not just whether it is readable.

Common misunderstandings

  • It is not a new text reader. Recognition of the lettering is a separate step.
  • It is not a chatbot. It translates the lines found on the page.
  • It is not a paid extra. Free gets it too.
  • It does not change how bubbles are erased or how text is fitted.

Questions

Is RuneLingua available now?

Yes. It translates the pages of every plan, Free included.

Will RuneLingua be free?

Yes. It is on every plan, Free included, and a page costs the same one credit. Every account can claim 20 free credits a day; Supporter comes with 1,000 credits a month, Pro with 2,500 and Ultimate with 5,000.

Can I use another translator instead of RuneLingua?

In the browser extension, yes: connect your own AI key, from a provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic, and pick it in the Model list. That provider bills you for its use, and pages still cost RuneManga credits.

Will my pages be sent to a new company?

No. The image never goes to the translator, only the text, and RuneLingua runs on the same GPU machines that already process your pages. The Privacy page describes what is used.
