Simulpub (simultaneous publication)
Simulpub, short for simultaneous publication, means a translated chapter is released on the same day as the original, so readers abroad do not wait months for an official translation.
What simulpub means
With simulpub, the publisher translates a chapter before it comes out and releases it in other languages on the same day as in Japan or Korea. Apps and sites such as MANGA Plus, Shonen Jump and WEBTOON release many series this way.
Why it matters to readers
- You can read new chapters officially, the same day, instead of waiting for a volume.
- It supports the creators and the publisher.
- Only some series and some languages get it. Many titles are simulpub in English but not in other languages.
When there is no simulpub in your language
If a series is official in English but not in your language, translating the pages you read is the part RuneManga helps with: the browser extension translates the official pages on the site as you read, as a reading aid.
Is simulpub free?
Often the latest chapters are free for a while, and older ones need a subscription or coins. It depends on the platform.
Is simulpub the same as a scanlation?
No. Simulpub is an official, licensed translation by the publisher. A scanlation is an unofficial translation by fans.
