Upload a ZIP, a folder or a pasted image

Every way to get pages into RuneManga: files, folders, ZIP, CBZ and PDF, drag and drop and paste, plus what the error messages mean.

You can add pages to RuneManga by choosing files, choosing a folder, dropping files or a folder onto the box, adding a ZIP, CBZ or PDF, or pasting an image with Ctrl+V. All of them end up in the same list, in reading order, ready for you to press the button.

Formats and limits

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP images, a ZIP or CBZ that contains them, or a PDF. TIFF and HEIC work when your browser can open them. The upload box shows the current limits, today up to 50 pages per job on Free, 100 on Supporter, 200 on Pro and 500 on Ultimate, and 20 MB per page. A page can also be refused if it has an extreme number of pixels in total.

Choose files

Press Choose files and select several images at once. They are sorted by name with numbers in natural order, so 2.png comes before 10.png. Name your files with leading zeros (001, 002, 003) if you want to be certain.

Choose a folder or drop one

Press Choose folder, or drag a whole folder onto the box. Subfolders are read too, and files are sorted by name in natural order. This is the quickest way to send a chapter you have already saved in a folder.

ZIP files

A ZIP is opened in your browser, so nothing is uploaded until you press the translate button. Only images are kept. Folders inside the ZIP are flattened, macOS metadata (the __MACOSX folder) and hidden files are skipped, and pages are sorted in natural order. A ZIP that unpacks to a very large size is cut off at a safe limit.

CBZ and PDF files

A CBZ is a ZIP with another name, and it is opened the same way. A PDF is opened in your browser too: each of its pages is drawn as an image and added to the list in the PDF's order. The PDF file itself is not uploaded.

Paste an image

Copy an image, for example a screenshot, and press Ctrl+V while the page is open. It is added like any other file. Paste is ignored while the cursor is in a text box or a drop-down, so click on an empty part of the page first.

Add more, remove, clear

  • After the first pages are in, the box shrinks to Add more pages. New pages go to the end of the list.
  • Remove a single page with the cross on its thumbnail.
  • Clear all removes every page so that you can start again.

Tips

  • For a chapter you have saved, a folder or a ZIP is the fastest way: one action adds every page.
  • Check the thumbnails before you press the button. They show the pages in the order they will be processed.
  • If a ZIP holds several chapters, split it first, so that each job stays within your plan's page limit.

What the messages mean

  • X is not an image, zip or PDF: the file is a document or something else. Convert it to an image.
  • X is not a readable PDF: the PDF is damaged or password-protected. Open it in a PDF reader to check.
  • X has N pages; the first ones were added and the rest left out: the PDF or ZIP has more pages than your plan's limit. Translate the rest in a second run.
  • The upload failed with One of the pages is not a supported image: a file such as HEIC or TIFF that your browser cannot open got into the list. One unsupported file stops the whole job, so convert it to PNG or JPG, press Clear all and add the pages again.
  • The upload failed with The upload is too large: the pages together or one page are over the limit. Send fewer pages per job.
  • X is not a readable zip: the ZIP is damaged or uses a format your browser cannot open. Make a new ZIP.
  • X has no images in it: the ZIP only holds other files or hidden ones.
  • X is over 20 MB: save the page at a lower quality or split a very tall strip.
  • Only N pages fit in one job, where N is your plan's limit: split the chapter and run each part.

The ZIP is read in your browser and the pages are uploaded when you press the button. Closing the tab before that discards the list.
