Translate manga on your phone
Translate manga and manhwa on an iPhone or Android phone with the RuneManga WebApp in your browser: how to add pages, what works and what to avoid.
You can translate manga on your phone with the RuneManga WebApp, in the browser you already use. There is nothing to install: sign in with Google, Discord or an emailed link, add the pages, translate them and save the result. The browser extension runs on desktop browsers only, so on a phone the WebApp is the way to use RuneManga.
What works well
- Adding page images from your photos or files, several at once.
- A ZIP of a chapter, which the WebApp opens in your browser before anything is uploaded.
- Comparing Original and Result for each page, then downloading the pages as PNGs or one ZIP.
- The same limits as on a computer: up to 50 pages per job on Free, 100 on Supporter, 200 on Pro and 500 on Ultimate, 20 MB per page.
What does not work yet
- The browser extension does not run in phone browsers, so pages on reader sites cannot be translated in place.
- HEIC photos are not accepted. If a photo is refused, save or share it as JPG first.
- Choosing a whole folder depends on the phone's browser, and many offer only files and photos.
- Text outside bubbles and sound effects are not translated yet, on a phone or anywhere else.
Where you read
- Chapters saved on the phone as images or a ZIP: add them in the WebApp.
- Printed volumes you own: photograph a page flat, in good light and straight on, then add the photo.
- Reader sites and apps: the extension is for desktop browsers. On a computer, use it in Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave or another Chromium browser.
Recommended settings
- Mode: Translate.
- Use Wi-Fi for long chapters: every page is uploaded, and big pages add up.
- Keep the tab open until the pages are done, and download them in time, because results are deleted about an hour after the job.
